If a new massive rumor is to be believed, the troubled development of a Justice League movie, that would see the heroes of DC comics team-up The Avengers style might have just taken a very promising turn. Word is that Warner Brothers has handed filmmaker Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy) the keys to EVERYTHING DC related, and that Zach Snyder director of the upcoming Superman film, Man of Steel, will direct Justice League. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE! Perhaps the biggest part of this rumor can be found below!
All of this comes courtesy of the fine folks over at Latino Review, who have a surprisingly great track record when it comes to big scoops such as this.
Apparently Warner Brothers is so pleased with Snyder's Man of Steel, which is produced by Christopher Nolan, that they want to stay in business with these guys. Shocking. So what WB has apparently done is given Christopher Nolan complete control of anything and everything DC Comics related. Nolan would serve as a producer on any upcoming films, and likely help with story duties, like he did on Man of Steel. The first of these upcoming films would be Justice League. Early signs suggest that Zach Snyder will also be brought on as a producer, and would likely be chosen to direct.
This is where things get really exciting/controversial:
The Latino Review report says that in addition to brining in Nolan/Snyder WB fully intends to have Henry Cavill return as Superman, and also have Christian Bale return as Batman. You read that last part right. Yes, the assumption is that WB is not interested in recasting Batman, but that they want the face of their $2.5billion dollar grossing Dark Knight trilogy back in the cowl. Securing Christopher Nolan's return would certainly help persuade Bale to come back as well. If they lock in this creative team with Bale and Cavill, it really wont matter what other heroes they bring in, but presumably it would be Green lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, and others.
So what would this all mean? That is an interesting question. How could they make this work? The end of The Dark Knight Rises is one that left many thinking it was either the perfect conclusion for Bruce Wayne/Batman, or that Wayne had actually been killed off. Either way, the question is, how do you bring back Bale without ruining that ending and upsetting the legions of fans that series has. If anyone can find a way to make it work, it would probably be Christopher Nolan.
